The number of people who lost their lives as a result of the devastating earthquakes that occurred in Venezuela last week has sharply increased, reaching at least 1,450.
Modern.az reports, citing CNN, that 33 people were rescued alive from under the rubble as a result of search and rescue operations carried out in the cities of La Guaira and Caracas.
Delcy Rodriguez, who is acting as president in the country, announced the creation of a special state commission to assess the damage.
It should be noted that after the natural disaster, about 40,000 people are still considered missing in the country.
It should be recalled that on the night of June 25, a 7.1 magnitude earthquake occurred in northern Venezuela. The US Geological Survey (USGS) later announced that two more strong tremors of magnitudes 7.2 and 7.5 were recorded with a difference of only 40 seconds.
