Iran's frozen $6 billion in funds will be returned to Tehran.

Modern.az reports that this was stated by Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.

The president announced on Monday that Iran's frozen assets worth $6 billion will be released and returned to the country via Qatar. He also stated that sanctions imposed on the oil and petrochemical sectors have been lifted as part of a peace agreement. Pezeshkian called this a “great victory” for the Iranian people.

Speaking at a meeting with Ayatollah Shubeyri Zanjani during his visit to Qom, the president noted that the $6 billion to be released is part of a total of $12 billion in Iranian funds held in Qatar. Work is underway to return the remaining amount. The release of these funds and the lifting of sanctions were part of an agreement reached within the framework of negotiations held in Switzerland and the Islamabad Memorandum.

Pezeshkian praised the resilience shown by the Iranian people during the war. He stated that despite the assassination of leaders, ministers, commanders, intellectuals, and even schoolchildren, the people, armed forces, and government demonstrated unity to protect the country. According to him, the US and Israel mobilized all their capabilities to destabilize Iran, thinking that economic pressure would lead to the country's collapse, but the resistance of the people and divine support thwarted these plans.

The president once again emphasized that Iran does not intend to acquire nuclear weapons. He noted that this position was clearly expressed by the late Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and is still in force.

Pezeshkian also stated that the government has already begun planning post-war reconstruction efforts and is implementing a series of measures to support the population.
