The Iraqi Parliament has been shaken by another major corruption scandal.
Modern.az reports with reference to local media that the country's law enforcement agencies carried out a large-scale operation during night raids in Baghdad's "Green Zone". As part of the anti-corruption wave, 47 people, including high-ranking officials and deputies, were arrested.
The most notable person among those arrested was Iraqi parliament member Aliya Nassif. According to the information, the deputy was detained after the decision of the judicial authorities and the parliament's lifting of her immunity.
According to images published by local media and social networks, more than 20 billion Iraqi dinars (approximately 15.5 million US dollars) in cash and gold jewelry were found and confiscated from the deputy's house.
