The decision taken by the Israeli government regarding the so-called "Armenian genocide" causes serious concern.
Modern.az reports that this is stated in the commentary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan regarding the decision taken by the Israeli government regarding the so-called "Armenian genocide".
It was stated that the distortion of historical facts related to the events of 1915, and the transformation of complex historical processes into a subject of political decision far from legal and scientific grounds, are unacceptable.
"Such steps serve not reconciliation and mutual understanding, but the further deepening of existing contradictions, and hinder efforts for lasting peace and reconciliation in the region.
We call on the Israeli government to reconsider this decision.
Azerbaijan will continue its consistent position in the direction of protecting historical truths, respecting the principles of international law, and promoting lasting peace in the region," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.
