Iran has sent a strong message to official Sofia, urging Bulgaria not to support US military aviation.
Modern.az reports that Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi stated this in a telephone conversation with his Bulgarian counterpart Velislava Petrova-Chamova.
He noted that the use of the "Bezmer" airbase by US military aircraft could be considered as participation in possible operations against Tehran.
Araqchi emphasized that such a step would further increase tensions in the region and would be taken seriously by Iran.
It should be noted that last week, the Bulgarian parliament approved the temporary deployment of up to eight KC-135 refueling tanker aircraft belonging to the US Air Force and up to 250 American military personnel in the country. Bulgarian officials, however, stated that these forces would not be used for offensive purposes.
