The Iranian government has prepared a secret plan to expand the war with the US and Israel and is preparing for a new phase of confrontation.
Modern.az reports that The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) wrote about this, citing information from several intelligence services of Arab countries.
According to the publication's sources, Tehran has set its main goal as inflicting such great damage on the US and Israel that large-scale strikes on the country's territory, as during the 12-day war last year and in the current confrontation, are prevented from recurring.
According to the WSJ, the Iranian government has given the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) broader powers over the country's regular army.
In addition, it is reported that experienced veterans of the Iran-Iraq war and individuals who support strikes on Arab countries where US military bases are located have been appointed to key positions in the Iranian armed forces.
Sources also said that Iran has expanded its counter-intelligence operations and accelerated the production of missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles.
According to the publication, possible escalation scenarios include sabotage against internet cables in the Persian Gulf, as well as steps aimed at destabilizing political stability in countries with Shia communities, such as Kuwait and Bahrain.
Sources also said that the possibility of a ground operation in Kuwait is not ruled out.
