Azerbaijan ranks 15th in the world in terms of the share of the working-age population in the total population.
Modern.az reports with reference to foreign media that as of 2025, the population aged 15-64 constituted 69.7 percent of Azerbaijan's total population.
Qatar ranked first in the rating. The share of the working-age population in this country is 83.3 percent. The UAE was second with 82 percent, Kuwait third with 78.4 percent, Bahrain fourth with 77.4 percent, and the Maldives fifth with 75.6 percent.
Azerbaijan, with an indicator of 69.7 percent, surpassed countries like South Korea, Malaysia, and Thailand, securing a place in the top 15.
The working-age population indicator expresses the share of individuals aged 15-64 in the total population. This includes both economically active and economically inactive individuals. For this reason, the indicator should not be directly evaluated as an employment level.
A notable point in the rating is the dominance of Gulf countries. Six Gulf countries, including Qatar, UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, and Oman, are in the top 15. One of the main reasons for the high indicators in these countries is linked to labor migration. The arrival of a large number of foreign workers in the region for employment purposes increases the share of the working-age group in the population structure of these countries.
Asian countries also hold an important place in the rating. The Maldives is fifth with 75.6 percent, Singapore sixth with 75.2 percent, South Korea 12th with 70.7 percent, Malaysia 13th with 70.3 percent, and Thailand 14th with 70.2 percent.
Thus, based on 2025 indicators, Azerbaijan is among the TOP-15 countries with a high share of the working-age population.
