The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a statement regarding the safety of the Armenian NPP.
Modern.az reports that Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova spoke about this during a briefing.
Zakharova believes that the station's design is adapted to the high seismicity of the region: "The Metsamor NPP produces approximately 30 percent of Armenia's electricity and meets the country's main energy needs. Currently, Russian and Armenian specialists are carrying out complex work to extend the NPP's operational life until 2036."
Zakharova considered the criticisms directed at the project to be unfounded: "Such objections are not raised in relation to some European countries where nuclear power plants operating on similar technologies are in use."
