Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian called the recent memorandum of understanding reached with the US a “great achievement” and stated that the document contains no provisions indicating Iran's surrender.
Modern.az reports that Pezeshkian said this during a public event.
The Iranian president assessed the results of the negotiations with the US as “worthy and valuable.” According to him, the document was also approved by Iran's Supreme National Security Council.
“They will not find any clause in this agreement that indicates Iran's surrender. All obligations belong to the other side,” Pezeshkian said.
He noted that the members of the Supreme National Security Council, who directly participated in the negotiations, strongly supported the agreements reached.
Pezeshkian emphasized that the agreement reached does not mean that Tehran is ready to surrender in the event of a resumption of military operations.
“The Iranian Armed Forces are fully prepared to defend the country. We will not back down in the face of intimidation and pressure under any circumstances. We will resist until our last breath and deliver a crushing response,” the Iranian president said.
Pezeshkian accused the US of violating international norms by striking schools, hospitals, and infrastructure in Iran.
In addition, the Iranian president called for the preservation of unity within the country. He urged Iranians to demonstrate unity despite their differences.
“If we are united, we are strong; if we are divided, we will perish. The enemy hopes for disagreements. Our duty is not to allow the fire of division to ignite,” Pezeshkian said.
The Iranian president said that the war should end at a time when Tehran maintains its position of “strength and dignity.”
“It is better to end the war today, at a time when we are in a position of strength and dignity,” Pezeshkian added.
