Relations between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan in recent years are not limited to political and diplomatic ties. The two countries are implementing joint projects in various fields such as transport, industry, investment, agriculture, education, and the restoration of liberated territories. In his recent interview with Uzbekistan's National Information Agency (UzA) yesterday, President Ilham Aliyev emphasized that this cooperation promises great prospects, especially in the direction of transport and logistics.

Modern.az presents important projects connecting the two countries.

School built by Uzbekistan in Fuzuli

One of the most visible examples of brotherhood between the two countries is the Mirzo Ulugbek school for 960 students built by Uzbekistan in Fuzuli. The school, built on an area of three hectares, will have 40 classrooms, laboratories, computer rooms, a library, a sports hall, and other infrastructure.

“Friendship Garden” in Fuzuli

Another project of cooperation with Uzbekistan is the 100-hectare “Friendship Garden” pomegranate orchard created in Fuzuli. President Ilham Aliyev noted this project as one of the examples of economic and humanitarian cooperation between the two countries.

Joint production of Chevrolet cars

One of the most concrete examples of industrial cooperation between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan is the production of Chevrolet cars. According to the President, 10,720 Chevrolet cars were produced in Azerbaijan by July 13, 2026.

Production of Isuzu buses

Cooperation in the automotive industry is not limited to passenger cars. The production of Isuzu brand buses is also carried out in Azerbaijan. By July 13, 2026, 275 such buses had been produced.

Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan Investment Fund

The Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan Investment Fund is one of the important mechanisms for expanding economic ties between the two countries. The fund was established to finance mutual investments and joint business projects.

Middle Corridor - a route connecting Uzbekistan to Europe via Azerbaijan

One of the biggest strategic directions is the Middle Corridor. As Uzbekistan is located in the center of Central Asia and Azerbaijan on the western shore of the Caspian Sea, the two countries complement each other on the East-West route. In January-March 2026, the volume of international cargo transportation between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan reached 28.3 thousand tons, increasing 2.9 times in one year.

Integration of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway into the Middle Corridor

A larger regional project comes to the fore here. The integration of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway with the Middle Corridor could allow Uzbekistan to transport goods from China to Europe via Azerbaijan.
Azerbaijan supports the connection of this project with the Middle Corridor and TRIPP.

Joint logistics projects

Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan are discussing not only using existing routes along the Middle Corridor but also creating joint logistics infrastructure. Plans have been announced for the creation of a joint logistics center with Uzbekistan around Baku port.

Joint geological exploration

In July 2026, Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan discussed the establishment of a joint venture for geological exploration. This direction can expand the cooperation of the two countries in the field of exploring mineral resources and creating new production chains.

“Sea Breeze Uzbekistan” and “Ritz-Carlton” projects

One of the interesting points is the large projects implemented by Azerbaijan's private sector in Uzbekistan. According to President Ilham Aliyev, a hotel and residential complex under the Ritz-Carlton brand by PASHA Holding in Tashkent, as well as a large tourism and residential complex project “Sea Breeze Uzbekistan” in Tashkent region, are being implemented.

There is another figure showing the scale of relations: according to data from July 2026, more than 130 commercial entities with Uzbek capital operate in Azerbaijan. At the same time, according to the Uzbek side, 442 enterprises with Azerbaijani capital were operating in Uzbekistan on that date.
So, it is no longer just about political friendship between the two countries: Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan are building a multifaceted economic partnership, from joint car production to a school in Fuzuli, from geological exploration for gold and other resources to access to Europe via the Middle Corridor.
