US President Donald Trump said that Iran's political and military leadership has suffered serious losses.

Modern.az reports with reference to local media that Trump spoke about this in his statement regarding the conflict with Iran and the prospects of possible negotiations with Tehran.

“Their leadership is gone. Second echelon leaders are gone. Half of the third echelon is also gone. This is one of my problems - there is no one to negotiate with. This is a problem,” Trump said.

The US leader described the situation with leadership in Iran's political system in unusual terms. According to him, there are no people who want to be president in the country.

“This is the only country in the world where no one wants to be president. They say: ‘Who wants to be president?’ – “No, I don't want to be president!” This is a problem,” Trump said.

Trump's statement came at a time when tensions between the US and Iran continue, and Washington keeps the issue of a possible agreement with Tehran on the agenda.

The US President previously claimed that Iran's military infrastructure and leadership structure had been severely damaged. Tehran, however, does not accept Washington's statements about the consequences of the war and states that Iran is resisting. Iranian officials have also stated that control over the Strait of Hormuz remains with Tehran.
