Azerbaijan's fuel exports continue to play a significant role in the energy market of the region's countries, playing a key role in maintaining the stability of their socio-economic situation.
Modern.az reports that Georgia imported fuel and lubricants worth 234.2 million dollars from Azerbaijan in January-August 2026. This is 23 percent more compared to the same period last year. With this, Azerbaijan ranked second among the countries supplying fuel to Georgia.
It is interesting that the Minister of Economy of Armenia, Gevork Papoyan, also spoke about the impact of Azerbaijan's fuel supply on the country's market.
According to the minister, if there were no imports of gasoline and diesel fuel from Azerbaijan, the price of gasoline in Armenia could have increased more seriously. Papoyan stated that the existence of an alternative supply source allowed to prevent price increases.
Thus, Azerbaijan plays an important role in the energy supply of both Georgia and Armenia against the background of the fuel price increase felt in the world due to the Houthis creating difficulties for the passage of ships in the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait and Iran and the USA in the Strait of Hormuz.
