After an appeal from US President Donald Trump, FIFA changed its disciplinary decision regarding US national team striker Folarin Balogun.
Modern.az reports that Balogun was supposed to miss the next match due to a direct red card received in the game against Bosnia and Herzegovina. However, according to the disseminated information, Trump personally appealed to the FIFA president, requesting a reconsideration of the decision.
It is reported that although the red card was not canceled, the execution of the disqualification was postponed with a one-year probationary period. For this reason, the player was allowed to participate in the 1/8 final match against Belgium.
Trump described the decision as "the elimination of a great injustice."
