On April 16, a meeting was held in Brussels between the delegations of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the European Union (EU) to resume negotiations on a new bilateral agreement and to hold further discussions on the Partnership Priorities document.

Modern.az reports that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) released information about this.

It was stated that the Azerbaijani delegation was led by Deputy Foreign Minister Yalchin Rafiyev, and the European Union side was led by Audrone Perkauskiene, Deputy Executive Director of the European External Action Service.

The discussions, held in a constructive spirit, served to mutually understand positions on both documents and to plan the next stages of negotiations.

At the end of the meeting, it was decided that the next stage of negotiations would be held in Baku at the beginning of June.

In addition to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Azerbaijani delegation included representatives from the Ministries of Economy, Justice, Energy, Digital Development and Transport, Finance, Labor and Social Protection, as well as the State Agency for Antimonopoly and Consumer Market Control under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the State Customs Committee, the Central Bank, and the State Oil Company of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Within the framework of the visit, Yalchin Rafiyev also held meetings with Jan Dusik, Deputy Director-General for Climate Action of the European Commission, and Patrick Child, Deputy Director-General for Environment. During the contacts, an exchange of views took place on the establishment of an Azerbaijan-European Union dialogue format in the field of climate action and environment, as well as on the COP process and initiatives put forward within the framework of international organizations related to climate and environment.
