Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has revealed the essence of the "strategic agreement" he first mentioned in November 2024 and offered to Azerbaijan.
Modern.az reports that the Armenian Prime Minister stated this in his video address while presenting the election program of the ruling "Civil Contract" party.
The meaning of the agreement is that after the parties mutually recognize each other's territorial integrity based on the Alma-Ata Declaration, they carry out border delimitation and leave each other alone. In this context, he once again emphasized that he considers the topic of Armenians returning to Karabakh unacceptable, because Baku, in response, could bring up the well-known topic - the return of Azerbaijanis to Armenia.
“We will no longer investigate who lives where, who owns what. We are closing this topic. Only in this way can we achieve peace. We have our own truth, but others also have their own truth. And one should not think that the international community applauds us when we speak our truth at various levels.”
According to him, some countries and certain political circles in those countries support Armenia, sharing its position and historical narratives. However, in the same countries, there are also circles that share Azerbaijan's approach. As a result, all this has led to a conflict fueled by others.
On August 8, 2025, in Washington, the leaders of Armenia, the United States, and Azerbaijan signed a joint declaration on the peaceful resolution of the conflict. The foreign ministers of both countries also signed a joint appeal regarding the closure of the OSCE Minsk Group and its related structures. In addition, the foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan initialed the text of the future peace agreement and later published it.
