An info session on the Specialized Academic Training Program, implemented within the framework of joint cooperation between the Ministry of Science and Education and the Ministry of Defense Industry, was organized at Baku Engineering University (BMU) for students studying in information technology and engineering fields.
Modern.az reports that Hamzaga Orujov, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of BMU, stated in his speech that university-industry cooperation plays an important role in engineering training. He noted that such programs contribute to the specialization of young people in the defense industry and the expansion of their future career opportunities.
Osman Okur, advisor to the Minister of Defense Industry, emphasized the importance of strengthening the defense industry not only in terms of technology but also human resources. He stated that the main goal in this direction is to unleash the potential of young engineers and turn them into professional personnel working on real projects. He noted that there is a great need for qualified specialists in the defense industry in fields such as computer, electronics, chemistry, environmental engineering, and artificial intelligence.
In his speech, Osman Aksoy addressed the students, stating that working in the defense industry is an important opportunity for young people who want to see their signature in important projects in the future. Working in the defense industry is not only a profession but also a source of service and pride for the country. The advisor called on students to take responsibility in this field, participate in the technological development of the country, and become a part of the defense industry.
Then, Ayten Sadigova, Head of the Ecosystem Organization and Partner Relations Department of the Ministry of Defense Industry, provided information on the admission rules for the Specialized Academic Training Program for the 2026-2027 academic year within the framework of the Engineering Training and Defense Industry Ecosystem Program. It was stated that the program includes the organization of training based on strategic directions and real projects, and practical training stages in the high-level laboratories of the ministry. During the info session, detailed information was also provided to students about the registration process for the program, evaluation of academic performance, test, and interview stages.
Elsevar Ibadov and Gamet Kerimov, advisors of the Ministry's Scientific Research Institute, highlighted the advantages of the project in their speeches. It was noted that program participants will have the opportunity to strengthen their theoretical knowledge in a practical way, students who successfully complete their industrial internship will be awarded a certificate, and they will be included in the relevant personnel database. The importance of the project in terms of strengthening the links between engineering education and industry was particularly emphasized in the speeches.
