As we reported, on August 23, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev arrived on a state visit to the Republic of Uzbekistan.
Modern.az reports that within the framework of the visit, the heads of state signed the “Agreement on Eternal Friendship between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Uzbekistan”.
The agreement states that both states, guided by universally recognized principles and norms of international law, base their relations on eternal friendship, mutual trust, strategic partnership and alliance, and support each other in choosing development paths and models in accordance with their national realities.
Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan also undertake not to participate in any blocs or alliances that harm the sovereignty, security and territorial integrity of the other party, not to allow their territories to be used by third countries for the purpose of harming the state sovereignty, security and territorial integrity of the other party, as well as not to allow the creation and activities of organizations and groups that harm the sovereignty, security and territorial integrity of the other party in their territories.
In addition, the parties undertake to cooperate in the following areas:
- reaffirm their commitment to further strengthening the central role of the United Nations in preventing and resolving conflicts, as well as in solving regional and global security problems;
- will help expand relations between the parliaments of both countries, strengthen the social and public basis for the development of friendship between peoples and strengthen legal cooperation in all areas;
- develop trade-economic and investment cooperation based on the principles of equality and mutual benefit, and assist in the implementation of joint projects in the fields of energy, transport and logistics, digital development, agriculture, “green” and digital economy, e-commerce, information-communication and space technologies, as well as other areas of mutual interest;
- create the necessary conditions for ensuring convenient and mutually beneficial transportation of goods and passengers, as well as for further strengthening the interconnected transport system aimed at increasing the transit potential of transport corridors;
- provide comprehensive assistance to the preservation of the spiritual, educational and cultural proximity of the peoples of the two countries, and develop exchange and cooperation in science, education, medicine, culture, cultural heritage, youth, tourism and sports, as well as other areas of mutual interest;
- create conditions for the mutual teaching of Azerbaijani and Uzbek languages, the development of direct cooperation between scientific and educational institutions and the implementation of joint projects;
- support the development of interregional cooperation and promote the establishment of partnership relations between cities and regions;
