Housing is not just concrete and steel, it means human dignity, security, stability and hope.

Modern.az reports that these thoughts were voiced by His Majesty King Mswati III of Eswatini at the official opening ceremony of the 13th Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) held in Baku.

He stated that billions of people in the world face serious problems such as inadequate housing conditions, rapid urbanization, climate disasters and poverty.

“A truly sustainable city is not measured by the height of its skyscrapers, but by its ability to protect and empower people, especially the most vulnerable.”

Mswati III noted that the government of Eswatini is implementing large-scale programs aimed at providing affordable housing, building quality infrastructure and strengthening environmental sustainability.

“The “Strategy 2030” program, launched in 2025, was developed in accordance with the New Urban Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals.”

He added that there is a need to further strengthen international cooperation to overcome the challenges related to urbanization and climate change.

“We must increase investments in renewable energy, green infrastructure and climate-resilient settlements,” he said.

At the end of his speech, Mswati III thanked the government and people of Azerbaijan for their hospitality and highly appreciated the development he observed in Baku.
