Providing every citizen with modern, quality, and affordable housing by 2040 is one of Belarus's main goals.
Modern.az reports that these remarks were made by Igor Sergeyenko, Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus, at the Leaders' Summit held within the framework of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13).
He stated that Belarus pursues a peaceful foreign policy based on mutually beneficial cooperation, and this cooperation also includes urban planning and infrastructure development:
"Belarus is ready to share its experience in human development, and the country is guided by the New Urban Agenda adopted at the World Urban Forum."
Igor Sergeyenko reminded that in 2025, Belarus's National Sustainable Development Strategy until 2040 was adopted, and one of its main directions is housing construction.
According to him, the future belongs to energy-saving technologies, widespread use of renewable energy sources, and environmentally friendly construction systems:
"We are transitioning from ordinary buildings to smart residential neighborhoods. Belarus is actively developing a sustainable city concept where energy-efficient homes coexist with well-thought-out public spaces," he emphasized.
The chairman also added that one of the effective methods for solving the housing problem in the country is providing citizens with rental housing. In addition, special attention is paid to increasing housing construction in satellite cities and developing landscape-type settlements.
