New chairman elected to the Association of Azerbaijani Businessmen in Turkey

The Association of Azerbaijani Businessmen in Turkey (TAİB), established in 2012 with the aim of uniting Azerbaijani businessmen operating in Turkey under a single platform, held its next Report-Election General Assembly for the years 2026–2029 in Istanbul.

At the General Assembly organized on April 29, 2026, in the meeting hall of Pasha Yatırım Bank's Head Office, the activities of the Association for the previous period were evaluated, and at the same time, management bodies for the new period were formed.

At the meeting, the activity report of the Board of Directors, the report of the Audit Commission, and financial indicators were presented to the attention of the participants and approved.

Subsequently, based on the results of the elections held, the composition of the new Board of Directors, which will operate in 2026–2029, was determined. Dr. Asif Kurban, Mikayil Yusifov, Vugar Abdullah, lawyer Zenfira Aliyeva, and Elshan Guliyev were elected to the Board of Directors.

Based on the results of the internal division of duties carried out by the newly elected Board of Directors, Dr. Asif Kurban was elected as the chairman of the Association of Azerbaijani Businessmen in Turkey.

The division of duties for the new period was determined as follows:

• Chairman: Dr. Asif Kurban
• Deputy Chairman for Corporate Relations, Media, NGO, and Government Relations: Mikayil Yusifov
• Deputy Chairman for Membership Issues: Vugar Abdullah
• Head of Legal, Compliance, and Women's Leadership Commission: lawyer Zenfira Aliyeva
• Head of Digitalization and Business Development Commission: Elshan Guliyev

 

Speaking after the General Assembly, TAİB Chairman Dr. Asif Kurban thanked the members for their trust. He noted that their main goals are to further strengthen the common platform of Azerbaijani businessmen, increase solidarity among members, and make the Association's activities more effective.

Kurban emphasized that expanding members' existing market opportunities, establishing new business connections, developing commercial activities, and supporting access to international markets are among the main priority areas.

The Chairman also noted that TAİB carries not only an economic but also a strategic and cultural mission, and stated that they will continue to contribute to the development of Turkey-Azerbaijan brotherhood relations.

“A strong economy means a strong state. We will continue our joint activities towards the development of economic cooperation between Turkey and Azerbaijan,” Kurban said.

Dr. Asif Kurban, founder and head of Tural Group, established in 2000, operates in the field of international trade. He completed his bachelor's and master's degrees at the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences of Dokuz Eylül University in Izmir, and received his doctorate in 2007, being awarded the scientific title of Doctor of Economic Sciences.

Dr. Asif Kurban, who has a published book, currently also serves as the head of the Turkey representation of the Azerbaijan Businessmen Confederation (ASK).

Dr. Asif Kurban, who has actively participated in and led domestic and international non-governmental organizations for many years, is particularly known for his work in strengthening Turkey-Azerbaijan relations, developing economic integration, and diaspora activities.
