A discussion was held in the Armenian parliament on the issues of deputies' salaries, bonuses and renunciation of mandates.

Modern.az reports that Sisak Gabrielyan, a deputy of the ruling "Civil Contract" faction, addressed a number of questions to Aram Vardevanyan, a deputy of the opposition "Strong Armenia" faction.

Gabrielyan asked Vardevanyan in what cases he would renounce his deputy mandate.

Vardevanyan replied that in the first case, if the "Strong Armenia" faction makes such a decision, he will hand over his mandate without any hesitation.

"If the "Strong Armenia" faction decides that I should hand over my mandate, I will do it without a moment's hesitation. I believe that this should be the main principle for all deputies of our faction," he said.

He cited the holding of snap parliamentary elections as the second reason. According to Vardevanyan, in such a case, the deputy's mandate will automatically expire.

During the discussion, Sisak Gabrielyan also asked about the opposition faction's position on deputy salaries and bonuses.

Aram Vardevanyan stated that the faction has a clear position on this issue.

"Samvel Karapetyan is an exception in the matter of salary. As for bonuses, even if any deputy formally receives a bonus, those funds will be fully directed to charitable purposes, especially to solving the problems of our compatriots. This process will be completely transparent. We want to form a new standard of transparency in this area," he emphasized.

Vardevanyan added that how these funds are spent will be open to the public.
