I conveyed the sincere greetings of our leader to President Ilham Aliyev.
Modern.az reports that Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said this during his speech at a joint press conference with Jeyhun Bayramov.
He said that Azerbaijan and Turkey have always overcome very important issues together with their ancient friendship.
"Turkey-Azerbaijan relations have been a relationship locked together by unbreakable ties, acting on the principle of "One nation, two states" and carrying the Turkish historical journey to the highest peaks. We would like to express our gratitude to our Presidents for their leadership here."
Hakan Fidan also recalled the 108th anniversary of the liberation of Baku.
"Of course, an important aspect of today's visit is that it coincides with the 108th anniversary. You know, 108 years... 108 years ago today, the Caucasian Islamic Army, under the command of Nuru Pasha, played a magnificent role in the liberation of Baku, together with our heroic Baku brothers, our Azerbaijani brothers. I commemorate all our martyrs who gave their lives for the independence of their homeland with respect and mercy."
Hakan Fidan noted that he was also received by President Aliyev and discussed the issues.
"We had the opportunity to listen to Mr. Aliyev's rich experience and vision regarding our bilateral relations and regional issues. It was really important to listen to each other's thoughts, especially in terms of synchronizing these issues, especially strategic issues, between Turkey and Azerbaijan. I also had the opportunity to convey to him how our President thinks about important, main issues and what he values."
The Minister also spoke about economic and trade cooperation, which is one of the most important pillars of relations with Azerbaijan.
"Our mutual investments, joint projects and trade turnover are increasing day by day. We will reach the 15 billion dollar trade turnover target set by our Presidents as soon as possible. All our institutions, professional organizations, and chambers of commerce are working diligently.
Our cooperation in the fields of energy, transport and coordination constitutes another strategic aspect of our relations. There are many projects implemented in this area," he said.
