Physical works on the 42-kilometer TRIPP route, which will pass through the territory of Armenia, are planned to begin in early 2027.
Modern.az reports that this was stated by Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov at a joint press conference with his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan.
The minister noted that transport infrastructure is being created in Turkey, Nakhchivan, and the main part of Azerbaijan. The missing part of the route is an approximately 42-kilometer section passing through the territory of Armenia.
“One of the important agreements reached at the Washington summit last year is the TRIPP project. This project envisages the construction of transport infrastructure in the 42-kilometer area, which is an integral part of the Zangazur corridor,” Jeyhun Bayramov said.
According to him, direct negotiations on the project are being conducted between the US and Armenia. American partners regularly inform Azerbaijan about the progress of the work.
“According to the latest information we have received, the process of design and company establishment is currently underway. These works are planned to be completed by the end of this year, and physical works are expected to begin in early 2027,” the minister said.
Jeyhun Bayramov noted that the distance being slightly more than 40 kilometers may allow construction work to be completed in a relatively short period.
The minister emphasized that both the entry and exit points of the route are located on the Azerbaijani border, and the corridor can only operate in this form.
