The reconstruction of approximately 190 kilometers of railway line has begun in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.

Modern.az reports that this was stated by Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov at a joint press conference with his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan.

According to the minister, although the railway in question operated during the Soviet era, it has remained unused for more than 30 years.

“For this reason, it is important to carry out reconstruction work in that area. Work has already begun in Nakhchivan,” said Jeyhun Bayramov.

The minister noted that after the completion of transport lines in Azerbaijan, Armenia, Nakhchivan and Turkey, a new transport direction will be formed, extending from Europe to Central Asia via Turkey and Azerbaijan.
