Serious personnel changes and new appointments are expected within the government in Armenia. It is claimed that Parliament Speaker Alen Simonyan may be appointed president in place of the current head of state, Vahagn Khachaturyan.
Modern.az reports that the Armenian newspaper "Iravunk" published this information, citing reliable sources in the government.
According to the publication, this decision was made at a meeting of the board of the ruling "Civil Contract" party, led by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. It is reported that Vahagn Khachaturyan, who will be removed from his post, may be appointed as Chief Advisor to Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
It should be noted that earlier "Hraparak" also wrote that a behind-the-scenes struggle for the presidential chair was going on in the ruling team. The reason given is serious health problems of the current head of state, V. Khachaturyan.
For information, Vahagn Khachaturyan was elected president of Armenia for a 7-year term in 2022.
