President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received Dirk Lölken, the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Germany to our country, on August 13.

Recalling with satisfaction his official visit to Germany last month, the head of our state emphasized that good discussions were held with President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Chancellor Friedrich Merz on bilateral relations and international issues during the visit, and noted that the views of our countries on regional stability, security and development coincide. The head of our state said that new areas of potential cooperation were identified during the discussions, and that these led to mutual understanding and the development of our partnership, and emphasized the importance of the "Joint Declaration on the Strategic Agenda for Bilateral Partnership between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Federal Republic of Germany" signed in Berlin, stating that this raised our relations to a qualitatively superior level.
President Ilham Aliyev noted that today we are already talking about strategic mutual relations in many areas, and the existing opportunities in trade, investments, and business areas strengthen our bilateral relations. The head of our state emphasized that the ambassador started his activity in Azerbaijan after his official visit to Germany, and brought to attention that this is very important for the future development of bilateral relations.

Expressing his gratitude for the reception, Dirk Lölke conveyed his congratulations to President Ilham Aliyev on the first anniversary of the Summit held in Washington between Azerbaijan and Armenia on August 8 last year.
The head of our state, in turn, once again emphasized that the peace agenda in the region started precisely with Azerbaijan's initiative, that our country will continue its efforts to advance the peace agenda, and that peace in the region is already irreversible.
The ambassador noted that the German government was very satisfied with the results of President Ilham Aliyev's visit. He expressed his hope that the discussed works will be implemented soon.
During the meeting, relations between Azerbaijan and the European Union and the positive dynamics observed in the development of these relations in recent times were emphasized.
Also, the East-West transport corridor and the future use of the opportunities of this route by German companies, cooperation opportunities in traditional and renewable energy, as well as education were touched upon.
