Although the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, openly supports the war in Ukraine, he is not in a hurry to send his citizens to the front line.

Modern.az reports that "The Economist" published information about this.

The publication reminds that Kadyrov had previously stated that Chechnya sent more than 70,880 fighters to the war. This constitutes 9 percent of the male population and is considered the highest indicator among all regions of Russia. As of July 10, the number of Chechens killed was only 539. This is equal to 0.2 percent of Russia's total losses. However, Chechnya accounts for 1.1 percent of Russia's population.

“Regardless of what interests Moscow has in Ukraine, we have nothing to do with these interests,” write sources close to the Chechen leadership.

It is noted that Kadyrov understands the situation very well and does not want to sacrifice his people for the sake of Russians.

"The Economist" writes that so far Kadyrov has actually been able to prevent forced mobilization for the war in Chechnya. This allowed him to use the war to his advantage and strengthen his image as the "father of the nation" who protects his compatriots.

Many of the "Akhmat" fighters are known more for their activity on social networks than for their participation in the war. Most of the videos showing their activities in battles are conducted far from the front line. Even Russian military bloggers call them "TikTok troops."
