The new appointments of Iran's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei have changed the balance of power within the ruling elite.

Military appointments were expected. General Vahidi, appointed as the commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), had actually been leading this institution for a long time, and his appointment was merely formal. The same situation applies to other military leaders appointed by Mojtaba in recent days.
However, the appointment of two individuals has significantly changed the balance of power in the regime's leadership: Mohsen Rezai as Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, and Hossein Taeb as head of the
