Lithuania will dig 20-meter trenches on the Russian and Belarusian borders.

Modern.az reports that the Lithuanian government has decided to create new defense barriers on the border with Russia, including in the direction of the Kaliningrad region, as well as on the border with Belarus.

The decision was made based on the proposal of the Lithuanian Ministry of Defense.

Within the framework of the plan, it is planned to dig trenches up to 20 meters wide in the border areas. In some areas determined by the army, the width of the trenches will be up to 150 meters.

The trenches are planned to be dug from the patrol road along the border towards the interior of the country.

It is reported that Vilnius will allocate approximately 50 million euros for the implementation of the project. The creation of defense lines is expected to be completed by 2028.

In addition, the Lithuanian government has also agreed on measures related to the restoration of swamps by 2030. According to the government, the restoration of swamps will make the areas more impassable for heavy military equipment.

Lithuania also plans to increase the number of "anti-mobility parks". These facilities will store engineering obstacles for quickly closing roads.

This refers to anti-tank obstacles, "dragon's teeth" weighing approximately 1.5 tons each, barbed wire, and other engineering structures.

While 27 such parks were previously planned, their number is expected to reach 50.
