According to US intelligence, the Iranian side prepared a missile attack on US President Donald Trump's plane during his participation in the NATO summit in July.
Modern.az reports that "The New York Times" wrote about this, citing two officials familiar with US intelligence data.
According to the information, the persons who prepared the attack plan had sufficiently detailed information about Trump's visit to Turkey. It is even claimed that they knew the specific floor of the building where the US president stayed in Ankara.
According to intelligence, the threat became concrete on July 8, shortly before the end of the NATO summit. The US side received information about the threat of an attack with a "surface-to-air" type missile on "Board No. 1" where Trump was, i.e., any plane used by the president.
After that, as part of security measures, Trump was reportedly secretly removed from the presidential plane and transferred to a car van serving the board's kitchen.
According to sources, the observation of a person with a portable missile launcher near the area where the summit was held increased the seriousness of the threat.
