Russian President Vladimir Putin held a meeting with the leadership of the Ministry of Defense. At the meeting, he made changes in the structure of the ministry and carried out a number of new appointments to high positions.
Modern.az reports that the main topic of the meeting was the improvement of the management structure of the Ministry of Defense.
Putin stated that all rear support services of the Ministry of Defense will henceforth operate under a single leadership. Valery Solodchuk, commander of the "Center" troop grouping, has been appointed to this position.
The Russian president called Solodchuk one of the country's most talented military commanders and expressed his confidence that he would successfully cope with the new task.
At the meeting, it was decided that Denis Lyamin, chief of staff of the "Center" grouping, will lead the Unmanned Systems Troops, which are currently being formed. Putin noted that Lyamin is considered one of the most professional military personnel in this field and expressed hope that he would successfully complete the formation of the new type of troops.
According to another decision, Colonel-General Andrey Ivanayev has been appointed the new commander of the "Center" troop grouping. Putin stated that this grouping is one of the main military units performing the most important combat missions in the Donetsk region.
The Russian leader also appointed Lieutenant-General Pyotr Bolgaryev as the interim commander of the Eastern Military District and the commander of the "Vostok" troop grouping.
At the meeting, Putin listened to a report from the leadership of the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff on the progress of combat operations in Ukraine.
Finally, the president thanked the newly appointed officers for their previous activities and emphasized that their combat experience would play an important role in fulfilling new tasks.
