Iran and Oman have reached a preliminary agreement on the resumption of shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.

Modern.az reports that Al Arabiya TV channel reported this, citing a source.

According to the information, the agreement on the opening of the Strait of Hormuz may be officially announced in the coming days. For this, the document must also be approved by Iran's Supreme National Security Council.

It is reported that the proposed agreement is calculated for a period of 60 days and provides for the resumption of maritime shipping during this period. The goal is to overcome the current stalemate and start technical negotiations.

According to the project, ships entering the Strait of Hormuz will use the shipping corridor close to Iran, while ships leaving the strait will use the corridor close to Oman.

According to the source, the participation of regional countries in mine clearance and other necessary technical procedures is also considered possible.
