Azerbaijan has surpassed several countries in the region in one of the influential international rankings assessing the quality of state governance.
Modern.az reports that, according to the 2026 report of the Chandler Good Government Index (CGGI), Azerbaijan ranked 57th among 125 countries.
Azerbaijan's overall performance confirmed its upper-middle income status.
Among the countries in the region, Georgia ranked 43rd, Armenia 64th, Turkey 75th, Russia 78th, and Iran 125th.
The ranking is based on key indicators such as the effectiveness of public administration, strong institutions, public financial management, legislative stability, market environment, leadership, strategic vision, international reputation, and others.
The report notes that the world's best public administration performance is in Singapore for the fourth consecutive time. Norway and Denmark also made it into the top three.
According to the Chandler Institute, which prepared the index, 61 percent of the countries included in the 2026 ranking managed to improve their public administration indicators.
Experts state that this index is considered one of the main international indicators that assess not only the economic capabilities of countries but also the efficiency of state institutions, the quality of governance, long-term development strategy, and the effectiveness of services provided to citizens.
