Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan spoke about new plans for Kapan Airport, located 100 meters from the border with Azerbaijan.

Modern.az reports that in a statement to local media, the Prime Minister said that the process towards the airport gaining international status has already begun and that the airport has serious potential in this direction.

According to him, Kapan Airport can currently accommodate certain sized aircraft, but in the future, the runway is also planned to be expanded for the landing of larger aircraft.

The Prime Minister noted that calculations show that the airport can be brought to a level that will allow it to receive international flights.

It should be noted that Armenia currently has two main international airports: Zvartnots International Airport (Yerevan) and Shirak Airport (Gyumri).
