51 horses, whose use in phaetons was banned on Istanbul's Büyükada island, have been given to horse breeding farms and local residents in Daday district of Kastamonu province, Turkey.

Modern.az reports that 16 of the horses were given to 4 horse breeding farms, and 35 to citizens for use in various jobs and activities.

Levent Bıyıklı, the owner of a horse breeding farm, stated that they have committed to taking good care of the horses.

“We take care of them, we don't keep them hungry. They became a little more comfortable after coming to us. They feel more comfortable here because they left the phaeton. We are also happy about this,” he noted.
