US President Donald Trump has “threatened” Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. Trump stated that Tehran would face serious problems if Iran attempted to restart its nuclear program.
Modern.az reports that he made this statement while commenting on the situation surrounding Iran's nuclear dossier.
According to Trump, Iran's nuclear infrastructure was previously completely destroyed, and any attempt to rebuild it will be severely prevented.
The US President said that Tehran had considered starting a new nuclear project in another region of the country, but Washington, having learned of these plans, warned the Iranian side in advance about severe consequences. “If they try again, we will do very bad things to them,” Trump stated.
He also touched upon the protests in Iran, stating that Washington supports the protest movement and linked the existing instability in the country to this.
Against the backdrop of Trump's statements, a high-ranking Iranian source stated that Tehran has no intention of succumbing to US pressure. According to him, Washington has already agreed to hold talks in Oman, and discussions around the meeting's location are regarded as an attempt by the US to deviate from the previously agreed agenda.
Iranian sources, speaking to Lebanon's “Al-Mayadin” TV channel, emphasized that Tehran will not allow any demands to be put forward that go beyond the nuclear issue. Nevertheless, it is also noted that Iran is ready for talks with the US.
