India is concerned about the expansion of a military alliance that includes Turkey and Pakistan
Modern.az reports with reference to foreign media that serious concern has arisen in India about the possibility of Bangladesh joining the "Mecca Pact", which includes Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkey.
According to the information, India believes that the initiative to involve Bangladesh in this alliance was mainly put forward by Pakistan.
The Indian side believes that Bangladesh's joining the alliance could create an additional risk for the country during a possible military confrontation with Pakistan in the future. Thus, in this case, India could theoretically face military pressure from Pakistan in the west and Bangladesh in the east.
According to the source, the terms of a possible alliance could also allow Pakistan to use Bangladeshi territory in the event of a military confrontation with India.
For this reason, India is reportedly making "all possible efforts" to prevent Bangladesh from joining the alliance.
Currently, no final decision has been announced regarding Bangladesh's joining this alliance. The issue is considered one of the steps that could affect the security balance of the region against the background of Pakistan-India rivalry in South Asia.
