Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi had a telephone conversation.
Modern.az reports that the telephone conversation took place at the initiative of the Iranian side.
Abbas Araqchi provided information about “steps taken by the Iranian leadership to repel the aggression of the US and Israel”.
He stated that this once again disrupted negotiations for a peaceful resolution regarding Iran's nuclear program.
Araqchi announced plans to convene an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council.
Sergey Lavrov, in turn, condemned the unprovoked armed attack by the US and Israel against Iran, which violates the principles and norms of international law and completely disregards the severe consequences for regional and global stability and security.
The head of the Russian Foreign Ministry emphasized the immediate cessation of attacks against the Islamic Republic and the importance of returning the situation to a political and diplomatic resolution.
Sergey Lavrov noted Russia's readiness, including within the UN Security Council, to facilitate the search for peaceful solutions based on international law, mutual respect, and a balance of interests. (APA)
