Taxi drivers and couriers held a protest in Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia, on the occasion of International Labor Day.
Modern.az reports with reference to foreign media that taxi drivers demand that the commission of aggregator companies be reduced to 10 percent, and the minimum fare be set at 2 lari per kilometer. They also want the introduction of payment for time spent in traffic jams, the addition of a night tariff, the improvement of the parking system, the non-blocking of accounts due to low activity ratings, and the conclusion of employment contracts.
Couriers working for Wolt and Glovo companies also joined the action. According to them, payments for orders have been reduced to 3-4 lari, and no compensation is given for waiting time at restaurants and with customers.
Couriers are also discussing the ban on foreign citizens working, which comes into force today. The participants of the action believe that these restrictions will be circumvented by renting the accounts of Georgian citizens.
Both groups complain about administrative fines, stating that these fines make it almost impossible to work on the roads. Taxi drivers also mention the city hall's parking system among the problems.
Similar protests are also being held in Batumi and Kutaisi. In these cities, taxi drivers turn off their apps as a sign of protest.
