It is alleged that the Civil Contract party, led by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in Armenia, has instructed state institutions to remove images of Mount Ararat from public buildings.

Modern.az reports that the Armenian newspaper “Hraparak” published this information.

The publication notes that some time ago, plans to remove the symbol of Mount Ararat – which Armenians call “Masis” – from the official logo of the Armenian National Polytechnic University came to the fore. Currently, Yerevan State University, whose logo also features Mount Ararat, has announced a competition for a new logo design.

According to the information, the rector of the university is Hovhannes Hovhannisyan, a former deputy of the ruling party, and the chairman of the Board of Trustees is Suren Papikyan, the Minister of Defense of Armenia.

The newspaper reminds that earlier, the Armenian authorities had presented a new biometric passport sample. In the new design, the Khor Virap monastery is depicted from an angle where Mount Ararat is not visible.

It was noted that the government has also decided to remove the symbol of Mount Ararat from the country's entry and exit stamps in September 2025.
