Hungarian police have launched an investigation into companies linked to Viktor Orban's father.

Modern.az reports that the Hungarian publication "444.hu" released information about this, citing the capital's police department.

According to the information, law enforcement agencies are investigating whether Dolomit Kft., a company owned by György Orban, sold construction aggregate materials for the M1 motorway expansion project to "V-Híd Zrt.", a business group owned by Mészáros, at a price higher than the market value. The possible connection between the companies came to light after information spread about the supply of construction stone from quarries owned by György Orban for the expansion of the M1 motorway.

Hungarian independent MP Akos Hadhazy announced in June that he had obtained documents showing that Dolomit sold construction stone to "V-Híd" at a price higher than the market value.

According to him, some product types were sold at almost double the amount indicated in the company's published price list.

After this, Miklós Ligeti, legal director of "Transparency International Hungary", appealed to the police to investigate possible cases of abuse of official authority in connection with the matter. The organization stated that it is not possible to definitively determine whether prices were truly inflated without examining invoices and other documents. However, it was emphasized that if it is confirmed that state funds were spent on purchasing construction materials at prices higher than market value, this could result in damage to state property. According to Hungarian media, the amount of state funds allocated for the maintenance and development of motorways amounts to hundreds of billions of forints. According to Hungarian media, companies directly owned by the Orban family made a profit of approximately 3 billion forints last year. A significant portion of this amount was paid to the company owners in the form of dividends. Currently, Hungarian police are investigating whether there were any legal violations in the transactions between the companies.
