The Bulgarian National Assembly has approved the composition of the new government and elected Rumen Radev, leader of the "Progressive Bulgaria" Party, as the country's new Prime Minister.
Modern.az reports with reference to foreign media that Rumen Radev served as President of Bulgaria from 2017-2026. He resigned prematurely from the presidential post in January this year to participate in the elections appointed after the prime minister's resignation.
During his time in power, Radev criticized the provision of military aid to Ukraine and the sanctions imposed against Russia.
It should be noted that Rumen Radev paid official visits to Azerbaijan in October 2017 and May 2024, and held meetings with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. During the visit, Radev characterized Azerbaijan as a "reliable partner" and "friendly country" for Bulgaria. He emphasized that friendship, partnership, and mutual respect unite the two countries.
