The business visit of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, to Bishkek, the capital of the Kyrgyz Republic, to participate in the events of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), once again demonstrated that the strategic ties between the two brotherly countries have entered a new and historic stage. The formation of an honor guard in honor of the high-ranking guests at Bishkek's "Manas" International Airport is a clear example of the high-level diplomatic respect between official Baku and Bishkek.
Against the backdrop of this recent visit, relations between the two countries have reached their highest point of development and strategic alliance in history. Azerbaijani-Kyrgyz relations, based on common ethnic roots, language, and rich Turkic culture, are characterized by great integration not only on political platforms but also in the economic sphere. In particular, close partnership in the "Middle Corridor" logistics project and the $100 million Azerbaijan-Kyrgyzstan Development Fund, which finances large-scale projects in the country, are considered the main pillars of economic cooperation.
Relations between the two states are also noteworthy for the striking geographical similarity of their cities. Just as resort and industrial cities located on the shores of the Caspian Sea hold tourist and economic importance for Azerbaijan, so do cities built at the foot of the Tian Shan mountains, around Lake Issyk-Kul, hold the same status for Kyrgyzstan. Despite relief differences, the cities of both countries complement each other with mountain tourism, ancient Silk Road heritage, and unique hospitality traditions.

Both cities are great cultural capitals of their countries and of the Turkic world as a whole. Just as Shusha is the cradle of Azerbaijani music, art, and history, Cholpon-Ata is a spiritual center located on the enchanting shore of Lake Issyk-Kul in Kyrgyzstan, hosting major cultural festivals and the World Nomad Games.
Ganja - Osh
Both cities are the second largest and oldest historical cities of their respective states. Both Ganja and Osh are located on the ancient Great Silk Road. Both have been centers of science, trade, and craftsmanship in the region for centuries and are known for their rich historical monuments.
Gabala - Karakol
These two cities are international mountain and winter tourism centers of their countries. Just as Gabala is known for its modern mountain-ski resorts (Tufandag) and enchanting mountain nature, Karakol is also considered the largest mountain-ski, mountaineering, and ecological tourism center of Kyrgyzstan, located at the foot of the Tian Shan mountains.
