The portal's real-time calculator is based on a briefing presented by the US Department of Defense (Pentagon) to Congress on March 10. The briefing stated that Washington spent $11.3 billion in the first 6 days of combat operations in the Middle East, with an additional $1 billion planned to be spent each day as the conflict continued.
According to the information, these costs are approximately three times higher than the figures initially announced by Jules Hurst, the acting deputy assistant secretary of defense for financial management. He stated at a hearing of the House Budget Committee that the US had spent approximately $29 billion on military operations against Iran.
