Canada is imposing restrictions on entry from Congo, Uganda, and South Sudan due to the threat of the Ebola virus.

Modern.az reports that, according to "The Globe and Mail", the restrictions apply to permanent and temporary residence visas and will come into force on Wednesday.

The decision was reportedly made after a meeting of the Cabinet led by Prime Minister Mark Carney. The reason for this was the increase in Ebola infections in Congo and Uganda.

According to the publication, the US had previously taken similar measures, prohibiting the entry of foreigners who had been in these countries within the last 21 days.

Additional sanitary requirements will also be implemented in Canada. Thus, individuals arriving in the country must undergo a medical examination, and those without symptoms must submit a 21-day self-isolation plan.

In addition, the World Health Organization has called for refraining from such steps, stating that closing borders could lead to possible negative consequences.
