Within the framework of the process of a Turkey without terror, a more serious delay than expected is observed regarding the PKK's surrender of weapons.

Modern.az reports that this was stated by the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, Numan Kurtulmuş.

He noted that the political and legal basis of the process has already been formed, and the next step is for the organization to fully surrender its weapons.

"We see a serious delay in the issue of laying down arms, beyond İmralı's will. I hope that this delay will be eliminated as soon as possible," Kurtulmuş said.

According to him, within the framework of the work carried out to create a terror-free environment in Turkey, certain agreements have been reached between political parties, and a preliminary framework for legislative changes has also been prepared.

Kurtulmuş emphasized that the main "critical threshold" in the process is for the terrorist organization to surrender its weapons, disband itself, and for this to be confirmed in a measurable way by security agencies.

He added that processes in the region, including events around Syria and Iran, have affected the expectations of some groups within the organization. According to him, Israel's attacks on Lebanon, the arming of some separatist and Druze groups in Syria, as well as the rapid integration process of the Ahmed Shara administration, known as Syria's transitional president, with the Syrian Democratic Forces (PYD/YPG line) have been factors affecting the situation.

Kurtulmuş also stated that although certain expectations arose regarding PJAK, the Iranian branch of the PKK, against the backdrop of processes in Iran, these calculations did not materialize.
