Russia is banning 103 Canadian citizens, including ministers and members of parliament, from entering Russia in response to sanctions previously imposed by Canada.
Modern.az reports that this was stated in a statement by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA).
"In response to the sanctions of the Mark Carney cabinet against Russia, 103 Canadian citizens whose activities are primarily aimed at blackening our country's constitutional structure and foreign policy course in the Canadian parliament, as well as those subject to the task of confiscating sovereign Russian state assets, are permanently banned from entering the Russian Federation," the MFA said.
This list includes, in particular, 19 members of the Canadian Senate, as well as 11 members of the House of Commons, all of whom hold positions in the country's Cabinet of Ministers. Among them are Tim Hocson, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Patty Haydu, Minister of Employment and Family Affairs, Jenny Carignan, Chief of the Canadian National Defence Staff, Chris Westdal, former Canadian Ambassador to Russia and Ukraine, Noyer Hillel, head of the non-governmental organization "United Nations Watch", and others.
In addition, 5 state secretaries, 5 parliamentary secretaries, and 60 deputies without portfolio were subjected to restrictions.
It should be noted that Canada had previously included 7 individuals and 34 legal entities in the list of sanctions against Russia.
