A new June temperature record has been registered in Poland due to the ongoing anomalous heat.
Modern.az reports that according to the country's public broadcaster "TVP World", on June 27, thermometers in Slubice, a city on the border with Germany, showed 38.9 degrees Celsius. This went down in history as the highest temperature ever recorded in Poland in June.
The Polish Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMGW) confirmed that this indicator surpassed the previous June record of 38.3 degrees.
It should be noted that previous June records were recorded in the cities of Tsebr and Radzin in 2019, and again in Slubice in 2022. Meteorologists predict that the heat wave will peak today and tomorrow, with temperatures rising to 42 degrees in the western regions of the country. If these forecasts come true, the absolute temperature record in Poland's history may be updated.
The highest temperature in the country's history was measured on July 29, 1921, in the city of Proszkow, at 40.2 degrees Celsius. Official bodies have warned the public about the situation. Citizens are advised to protect themselves from direct sunlight during the hottest hours of the day, drink plenty of fluids, and take additional safety measures for the elderly and children.
