The Hungarian parliament has elected the country's new president.
Modern.az reports with reference to foreign media that the deputies elected András Baku, the former chairman of the Supreme Court, as the new head of state.
It should be recalled that the ruling “Tisa” party, led by Hungarian Prime Minister Peter Magyar, nominated Baku, who worked as a judge at the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) for 17 years, for the post of president on Saturday. It should also be noted that Baku was removed from his post during the rule of former Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán.
It should be noted that in Hungary, the president mainly performs representative functions.
