Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said that forces he called the “deep state” in the country are artificially trying to incite Russophobia and draw the country into a new provocation.
Modern.az reports that Kobakhidze stated this in his statement.
According to the Prime Minister, after the conflict in Ukraine began in 2022, foreign forces tried to open a “second front” in Georgia, and then to get the country to join sanctions against Russia.
“Now that they cannot subjugate the government, they are trying to draw the country into a new provocation. The goal is to create the impression that there is a Russophobic mood in Georgia, and thus to get the Russian authorities to cut all economic ties with the country,” Kobakhidze said.
He believes that the main goal of the campaign is to strike at the Georgian economy, create enmity between peoples, and bring the situation to the brink of military confrontation.
It should be noted that earlier, the Georgian State Security Service launched an investigation under the article of provocation regarding the information campaign against Russian tourists. According to the Service's version, the campaign is controlled from outside the country.
